Hardy Lee Walker III, 49, of Pelham passed away suddenly on April 28. He was preceded in death by his father, Hardy L. Walker Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Amy Davis Walker; children, Haylee Marie, Wesley Joseph and Carlie Jean Walker; mother and stepfather, Bonnie and Wilburn Jones; siblings, Tina Walker (Jeff) Stanley, Rick (Pam) Jones, Charlotte Jones (Jim) Ghrarib; sister-in-law, Marilyn Davis (Gary) Purdy; nephews, Bryan K. Stanley, Robert M. (Taylor) Stanley, Davis Gardner Purdy; and niece, ClaraLane Elizabeth Purdy.
Hardy was born in Albany, Ga. but spent most of his childhood in Huntsville. He graduated from Grissom High School in 1981, where he excelled in football and was a two time state wrestling champion. He graduated from the University of Alabama in 1986. While at Alabama, he had the privilege of playing football for Coach Bryant and Coach Perkins, lettering three years as an offensive lineman and playing on the 1981 SEC championship team. Hardy worked 24 years for Lighting Partnerships as an inside sales rep. He served on the boards and coached basketball for the Pelham/Helena Girls Basketball League and Pelham Pride. Hardy taught children's Sunday school classes and coached little league football and softball for many years. He was inducted into the Huntsville-Madison County Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007.
Hardy was a loving husband, father, friend and coach to many and will be greatly missed.
